A Burnie financial advisory firm has become just the second in Australia to achieve certification with the international Centre for Fiduciary Excellence.
Mancell Financial Group owner Peter Mancell said the certification was the equivalent of quality assurance in other industries.
He said it had involved taking 35 years of investment knowledge and distilling it into documented processes and repeatable methods.
This involved Mr Mancell undertaking an accredited course in fiduciary training.
“It involved some very detailed scrutiny,” Mr Mancell said.
“We are the first Tasmanian wealth management firm to ever achieve that and only the second in Australia,” he said.
“The real positive for me is that our business in a small regional city is we can demonstrate we do things as well as any firm on the face of the planet.”
Mr Mancell said the push to achieve certification was part of the company always seeking to improve.
“The end result is that we get better results for our clients,” he said.
CEFEX general manager of the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence, Carlos Panksep, said the independent assessment provided assurance to investors, both institutional and individual, that Mancell had demonstrated adherence to the industry’s best fiduciary practices.
“This indicates the firm’s interests are aligned with those of investors,” Mr Panksep said.
Mr Mancell said the company continued to look for ways to grow and employ more people from the base in Burnie, and this certification would help that growth.
