In this episode of “What’s the Risk?” we take a look at the historic performance of the NASDAQ 100 Total Return Index since 1999.
A popular index with investors via Invesco’s QQQ and Betashares NDQ in Australia due to tech focus and strong returns in recent years, but going back a little further there was a significant peak to trough fall that many investors aren’t aware of.
It’s important to consider the prior downside because this is a very concentrated index, and it was only a little over 2 decades ago when the big falls occurred. Some investors write off the potential for large declines, but as the performance of the NASDAQ 100 shows, there’s plenty of good, but there’s also the potential for bad.
